About Us
Kaunos Tours was established in 1993 as a small tourism business in Dalyan, located in the southwestern part of Turkey, offering car, motorcycle, and bicycle rental services. In 1995, it signed a franchise agreement with Europcar, a high-standard vehicle rental company, and began offering professional car rental services in the Dalyan region. That same year, Kaunos Tours started offering guided mountain bike tours to explore the surrounding area of Dalyan. One year later, it became a licensed tour operator. The first website of Dalyan was designed by Kaunos Tours, and it has been active since 1997. Online reservations for accommodations, airport transfers, car rentals, and package tours became a reality in Dalyan. Over the past 15 years, Kaunos Tours has been organizing package tours with various foreign tour operators, including jeep safaris, road biking, canyon crossings, sea kayaking, rafting, hiking, and various boat tours.
Today, Kaunos Tours is an experienced tour operator organizing various day trips and multi-day outdoor adventure activities, private cultural tours, and relaxing tours, while also offering professional services such as car rentals, transfers, and accommodation in the area where it operates.
Our Mission: At Kaunos Tours, our mission is to ensure that all our guests have a perfect holiday, explore Turkey through our exciting tours, have no concerns about transfers and accommodation, enjoy their time here, and leave with wonderful memories of this beautiful country, all with the help of our friendly, experienced, and qualified staff.
Staff: The specially trained staff of Kaunos Tours is dedicated to providing excellent service to our customers. In addition to the general manager, we have a cultural guide, four transfer drivers, a jeep safari guide, four drivers, two boat captains, an accountant, and a sales office staff. With the exception of one driver with basic English skills, all of our staff members are bilingual (fluent in both Turkish and English). Kaunos Tours office also serves as a local tourism information center, providing detailed information about Dalyan and Turkey.
Documents: Under the official regulations determined by the Turkish government, all travel operators are required to obtain the "TÜRSAB" tourism operation certificate. Kaunos Tours holds an A-type certificate (certificate no. 3830) for inbound and outbound tours from abroad. All tours are covered by special outdoor insurance and liability insurance up to $500,000.
Activities: Kaunos Tours is specialized in adventure tours and activities in the Dalyan region. We are experts in organizing one-day or multi-day fun activities in Dalyan and its surroundings. Customers can choose from relaxing on a boat throughout the day, taking multi-day hikes through villages, or participating in activities like jeep safaris, canyon crossings, sea kayaking, or rafting. At Kaunos Tours, we offer personalized packages fully tailored to our customers' needs. With our expertise in sea kayaking, mountain biking, and 4WD vehicles, and our knowledge of hidden small paths leading to little villages, we provide our guests with a different perspective on village life in Turkey. Our weekly active package tours are a great opportunity to explore untouched parts of the country. For small groups who enjoy the coastline and rural areas, we offer a weekly adventure tour that includes sea kayaking with nature camping along the turquoise-colored southwestern coast and the Lycian Way trekking. The weekly Multi-Active Outdoor package tour is a combination of various daily active tours in Dalyan.
In addition to tours in the Dalyan region, Kaunos Tours also organizes bicycle tours that last several days between Izmir and Antalya, using back roads and visiting several ancient cities from the Lycian period, such as Ephesus, Miletus, Xanthos, and Olympos. These tours, which combine sports and culture, provide an opportunity to learn about ancient culture and the living culture of today by visiting small villages and interacting with the locals. Many of our clients continue their journeys in culturally rich centers like Istanbul and Cappadocia. We organize transportation, accommodation, and guides as part of the full package for these destinations. The role of our guides is not only to ensure everything runs smoothly but also to share the traditions, culture, and people of the region in a delightful way, ensuring our guests return home with valuable knowledge.
Responsibility on Tours: Dalyan, located between the magnificent Köyceğiz Lake and İztuzu Beach, is an environmentally protected area where sea turtles lay their eggs. Kaunos Tours demonstrates its environmental sensitivity by organizing tours and activities in an eco-friendly manner. The goal is not to harm nature but to enjoy it. Over the years, we have built strong relationships with local families and small businesses, resulting in a significant income source for some of them and supporting the local economy in new ways.
